Women's Tennis Drops Tightly-Contested Match with Salem

Box Score HERSHEY, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's tennis team dropped a tightly-contested to Salem, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon.
 
Jennifer McDonald and Alyssa Mazurek (McAdoo, PA/Hazleton Area) scored the first victory of the day, winning 6-4 in No. 3 doubles. The Huskies dropped it matches at the No.1 and No. 2 slots to concede the doubles point to the Tigers.
 
Salem secured wins in No. 1 singles and No. 4 singles to advance its lead to 3-0 before the Huskies rallied back. Nicole Ilkovic (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy High School) made it 3-1 after posting a comeback victory (2-6, 6-2, 6-4) at No. 2 singles.
 
The reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week claimed victory in the No. 5 singles match with a score of 6-1, 6-2. McDonald picked up win number two on the day with a 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles to level the score.
 
The match came down to Lily Sierka () in the No. 6 slot. Sierka narrowly took the first game, falling 7-6 before dropping the second 6-3.
 
Bloomsburg welcomes Jefferson to town on Tuesday, March 25 for a 3 PM matchup at Burt Reese Tennis Center.
