Women's Tennis Picks Up Second PSAC Victory in Sweep Against Shepherd

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's tennis team took down Shepherd, 7-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on Saturday evening.
 
Originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at Shepherd, rain moved the contest to 6 p.m. at a neutral site in Hershey.
 
Bloomsburg (9-2, 2-0 PSAC) started strong with a dominant sweep of the doubles point. Lexi Quackenbush (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) and Nicole Ilkovic (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy High School) made quick work of the No. 1 doubles match, rolling to a 6-0 victory over Allison Cronk and Millie Shaw.
 
Maddie Delisio (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin High School) and Lily Sierka () picked a 6-0 victory of their own at No. 3 doubles while Jen McDonald (Melbourne, Australia/Brentwood Secondary College) and Alyssa Mazurek (McAdoo, PA/Hazleton Area) won, 6-1, at No. 2 doubles.
 
In singles competition, Dasha Nakonechna (Spain/IOC) dropped the first set of No. 1 singles to Cronk, 4-6, before tying the match with a 6-3 victory in the second set. Nakonechna picked up the win by claiming the tiebreaker, 1-0.
 
The Huskies saw a trio of 6-0, 6-0 wins from Lia-Sophie Seele (Mülheim, NRW, Germany/Luisenschule) at No. 2 singles, Sierka at No. 3 singles and Mazurek at No. 4 singles. Juliana Kim (Ridgefield, NJ/Ridgefield Memorial High School) took set one of the No. 5 matchup, 6-4, before claiming the match with a 6-0 win in the second set. Brooke Henry (Saint Mary's, PA/Saint Mary's Area) won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles to secure the sweep for the maroon and gold.
 
Bloomsburg is back at Burt Reese Tennis Center on Tuesday, April 15 as they host Kutztown at 3 p.m.
