KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Bloomsburg baseball team opened its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) series against Kutztown with doubleheader sweep at North Campus Field on Monday afternoon. The Huskies shutout the Golden Bears in game one, 3-0, before taking game two, 6-3.

Greg Cristino (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) posted a team-leading three RBIs, including a two-run home run in game two.
Jacob Reifer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia Area) went 2-for-3 in the second contest while driving in a run.

Game One – Bloomsburg 3, Kutztown 0 Â

Josh Wilson (Clinton, Md./Bishop McNamara) opened the scoring for Bloomsburg (14-19, 4-10 PSAC East) in the first inning, singling through the right side to bring
Brady Ebbert (Etters, Pa./Red Land) in from second base.

After Kutztown (11-22, 4-10) recorded the first two outs of the second innings,
Jeremy Cawley (Duryea, Pa./Pittston Area) reached base on a single down the left field line. Cawley then stole second base before a throwing error sent the ball into the outfield and moving the shortstop to third. As second throwing error, this time from the centerfielder was off the mark and allowed Cawley to score the Huskies' second run.

The maroon and gold added a third run in the top of the fifth, with Cristino scoring
Drew Balestrini (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) on an RBI-single through the left side.

Daniel Koppisch (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) picked up his second win of the season with six strikeouts and no runs scored on three hits in five innings.
Pete Modrovsky (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) earned the save, allowing just one hits in two innings of relief.

Game Two – Bloomsburg 6, Kutztown 3

The Golden Bears struck first in the nightcap as Jimmy Kerley singled through the right side to score Bo Barthol.

Cirstino responded in the second, blasting a two-run homer to left field that just barely stayed within the foul pole.
Â
An RBI-single to centerfield from Bryce Schafer tied the game in the third inning.
Â
Wilson and Balestrini put the Huskies ahead, 4-2, in the fourth as the duo scored on a field error from the first baseman.

Kutztown responded yet again in the fifth on an RBI-double from Nick Varda.

The seventh saw Reifer move Bloomsburg's lead back tow two runs on a single down the left field line to score
Ben Jones (Fallschurch, Va./George C. Marshall). Reifer was then brought home on a bases-loaded walk, adding an extra insurance run for the Huskies.

Brandon Wozniak (Nanticoke, Pa./Nanticoke Area) earned the win in game two, allowing three runs while striking out two and allowing no walks in 5.1 innings.
Matthew Marsten (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) picked up the save with two strikeouts and no hits in 1.2 innings of relief.

The Huskies return to action on Tuesday, April 15 for doubleheader at Danny Litwhiler Field to close out the season series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
