WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Bloomsburg lacrosse team fell to #1 West Chester 23-6 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies evened their season record at 6-6 and fell to 2-5 in conference play while the Golden Rams improved to 11-0 and 7-0 in the PSAC East.

Marykate Sitko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and senior
Tori Bruno (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) each had a goal and an assist for the Huskies while
Emily Simpson (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic),
Kayla Stressman (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn),
Sophia Zelasko (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area), and
Mia Boccippio (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) all scored.
Maya Fulmer (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) added an assist for Bloomsburg. Sitko and Stressman each won two draw controls. Â

Defensively,
Reiley Knize (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) led Bloomsburg with three caused turnovers and three ground balls while Lauran Foley picked up three ground balls as well and caused a turnover. Sitko and Zelasko each picked up two ground balls.

Foley finished the day with seven saves in net for the Huskies while her counterpart Hannah Cornelius made three saves in the win for West Chester.

The Golden Rams jumped out to the early lead with a 5-0 run in the first 10 minutes of the first quarter. A goal in transition from Zelasko with 2:40 to go in the first halted the run and cut the lead to 5-1. West Chester scored with 1:21 to play in the opening period but Simpson's 11
th goal immediately after the draw control with 1:05 to play cut the lead back to four, 6-2, at the end of the first.

West Chester quickly put together a six-goal run in the first four minutes of the second period to push its lead to 12-2. Boccippio halted the run with her 16
th of the year with 9:58 to play. West Chester answered just over 40 seconds later to re-take a 10-goal lead, 13-3, with 9:11 to play before Sitko score with 6:40 to play to cut the lead back to nine, 13-4. West Chester closed out the half with three-straight goals to take a 16-4 lead at the break.

West Chester out-scored the Huskies 4-0 in the third period and scored to open the fourth. Bruno got her seventh of the season with 11:38 to play in the fourth before West Chester scored back-to-back goals to take 23-5 lead. Stressman ended the scoring with her 19
th of the season at the 4:06 mark for the 23-6 final score.

The Golden Rams out-shot Bloomsburg 32-15 and held a narrow 21-19 advantage in ground balls. West Chester won the draw control battle 23-10 and was nearly perfect on clears, 12-for-13, while the Huskies finished the day 12-for-17 on clears.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Wednesday, April 9 when they come home to play Millersville at Steph Pettit Stadium. The opening draw is set for 2:00 p.m.
