BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg lacrosse team fell to Millersville, 17-7, Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies fell to 6-7 on the year and 2-6 in PSAC East action while the Marauders improved to 8-4 and 4-3 in conference action.

Senior goalie
Lauren Foley (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) continued her impressive final campaign with the Huskies as she reached and surpassed the 600-save milestone. With her ninth save of the game in the third quarter, Foley hit 600 for her career. She finished the day with 12 stops and now has 603 in her four years in the maroon & gold.

Sophomore
Marykate Sitko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) led the Huskies with four points behind three goals and an assist. She picked up two ground balls and won a team-leading three draw controls. Senior
Tori Bruno (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) had a goal and two assists for the Huskies while
Reiley Knize (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton),
Emily Gauker (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin), and
Mia Boccippio (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) all scored for Bloomsburg.
Emily Simpson (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) and
Kayla Stressman (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) each finished the day with three draw controls as well.

Defensively,
Sophia Zelasko (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) had a team-high three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Sitko also caused a pair of turnovers.

Sitko opened the scoring with her 33
rd goal of the season with 9:09 to play in the first. The Marauders answered just over 90 seconds later to tie the game at 1-1 after a Bloomsburg green card. Millersville took a 2-1 lead with 5:12 to play in the first and held on to the one-goal lead for the rest of the period.

Millersville used a 5-0 run in the second quarter to take a 7-1 lead into halftime.

Kaleigh Funk pushed Millersville's lead to 8-1 with 13:44 to play in the third with her third goal of the game.
Tori Bruno (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) halted the Marauder eight-goal run with her first of the game and eighth of the year thanks to a pass from Sitko with 12:56 to play.
Alexis Guzylak (Corning, N.Y./Horseheads) won the next draw control for the Huskies and Boccippio drew a shooting space foul to get a free position shot. Boccippio converted the shot for her 17
th goal of the year and cut the lead to 8-3.

After a pair of saves by Foley, including her 600
th career stop, the Huskies successfully completed a clear and Sitko cut into the lead further with her 34
th of the year. Â Millersville answered just under a minute later to take a 9-4 lead with 7:38 to play in the third. Sitko won the next draw and scored off an assist from Bruno to cut the lead to 9-5 with 7:14 to play.

The Marauders ran out the rest of the period with four-straight goals to take a 13-5 lead with 15 minutes to play.

Millersville opened the fourth quarter with a pair of goals to take a 15-5 lead with 12:16 to play in regulation. With 9:20 to play, Gauker scored her second of the year to cut the lead back to nine, 15-6. Millersville pushed its advantage back to 10 at the 7:51 mark, 16-6, before Knize scored with 3:47 to play. Brianna Gora closed out the scoring with her third of the year with 3:28 to play for the 17-7 Millersville win.

The Marauders out-shot the Huskies 32-27 and held a 17-11 advantage in draw controls. The Huskies won the ground ball battle 18-17 and were near perfect on clears, 11-for-13.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Saturday when they host Shippensburg for a 1:00 p.m. PSAC East contest at Steph Pettit Stadium. Bloomsburg will honor its six graduating seniors prior to the start of the contest.
