Men's Tennis Claims Runner-Up Finish in PSAC Championship Match

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's tennis team finished as the 2025 PSAC Men's Tennis Runner's Up after an impressive run through the regular season and the Championship Tournament. The Huskies fell to Edinboro, 4-0, in the championship match that was delayed by two rain delays and one location change.

Due to forecasted rain for Saturday, the championship match was moved to Friday night to avoid rain storms. The Huskies and Fighting Scots got underway on Friday at 9:15 p.m. following the conclusion on the women's championship. Edinboro got off to a quick start with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles. The Fighting Scots clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 2 and finished off the sweep with a 6-4 win at No. 3.

Singles play got underway but before any singles match could finish, the rain came and the match was suspended until Saturday morning. Edinboro took a 2-0 match lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. The Fighting Scots extended their lead to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.

Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) held a 6-4 lead at No. 3 singles but Thomas Buchard came back to tie the match with a 6-4 win in the second set. Jaime Soria (Pamplona, Spain/Liceo Monjardin) fell in the first set of No. 4 singles 7-5 and came back to tie the match with a 6-4 win.

At No. 6 singles, Landon Wall (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca High School) fell in the first set 6-2 but battled his way back and tied the match with a 6-3 win. As Wall and Ben Maldener battle at No. 6, the rain came back and once again suspended the match. With a questionable forecast for the rest of the day, the decision was made to move the match inside at Williamsport. Maldener and Wall got back on the courts and Maldener held on for a 6-4 win in the third set and clinched the championships for Edinboro.

The Huskies are currently ranked #7 in the Atlantic Region and look forward to the NCAA selection show on Monday, May 5 for a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament.
