Pacacha, Punchello Sweep PSAC East Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

The tandem led an all-around team effort to go 2-0 last week against a pair of opponents receiving national consideration in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - After going 2-0 last week, Jake Pacacha (Shelton, Conn./St. Joseph) and Peter Punchello (Jamison, Pa./William Penn Charter) of Bloomsburg men's soccer have swept the PSAC East Weekly Awards as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

The Huskies bounced back from a pair of draws to earn two vital out-of-conference victories. Bloomsburg began the week with a 2-1 win over No. 11 Felician on the road. The Huskies road travels continued with a trip to Greensburg to earn a 2-0 win over a Seton Hill side receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll.

Pacacha proved to have the magic touch throughout the week, netting the two game-winning goals for Bloomsburg in both contests. On Wednesday, Pacacha got a pass and raced down the right wing to beat his defender and the goalkeeper to provide a necessary 2-0 cushion en route to the win. Pacacha one-upped his own effort earlier in the week against the Griffins, perfectly settling a ball over the top of the Seton Hill defense before cutting inside for a left-footed finish at the near post to open the scoring in the second half.

Punchello gets his first career weekly honor after helping Bloomsburg to two strong results. The sophomore goalkeeper made six saves across the two matches, helping slow down a potent Felician attack that recorded six goals in its two contests entering Wednesday's contest. The two victories for the Huskies additionally came following wins over PSAC East opposition for their opponents. Punchello helped Bloomsburg pick up its second clean sheet of the season with the 2-0 result over the Griffins. 

The Huskies return to the field for another pair of nonconference games. Bloomsburg will first travel to Philadelphia on Wednesday, September 17 to take on Jefferson to wrap up a three-game road trip. The Huskies return to Steph Pettit Stadium on Saturday, September 20, for a matchup against Frostburg State.
