No. 5 Field Hockey Rolls to 8-0 Victory Against St. Thomas Aquinas

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The No. 5-ranked Bloomsburg field hockey team picked up its fifth shutout of the season in an 8-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas at Steph Pettit Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Six different Huskies found the back of the net as Bloomsburg advanced to 6-0 on the year. Freshman Arianna Deliso (Easton, Pa./Easton) and senior Kate Ferguson (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) found the back of the net twice in the contest.

After a scoreless first quarter, Bush found Morgan Magditch (Kintersville, Pa./Palisades) on the right post to break the deadlock two minutes into the frame.

Alli Bucher (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) found the back of the cage four minutes later, receiving the ball from Ferguson in front of the net.

Six minutes later, the pair switched roles as this time Ferguson scored with an assist from Bucher to make it 3-0 going into halftime.

It took just 57 seconds for the Huskies to score in the second half, as Jessica Serafin (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) found Ferguson in front for the deflection past the goalie to make it 4-0.

Bush extended her scoring streak to five games, driving into the shooting circle and sneaking a shot inside the left post for the Huskies' fifth of the game.

Later in the third quarter, Arianna Deliso (Easton, Pa./Easton) scored back-to-back goals in the span of 95 seconds to further the lead for the maroon and gold. It is the second two-goal game in a row for the freshman.

In the final seconds of the frame, Jordan Bond (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) posted her second of the season to make it 8-0 for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies held the Spartans without a single shot in the contest while recording 47 shots and 26 shots on goal.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Friday, September 19 as they host Roberts Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m.
