No. 5 Field Hockey Takes Down Roberts Wesleyan, 8-0

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – A consistent string of offense from the No. 5-ranked Bloomsburg field hockey team helped lift the Huskies to an 8-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan at Steph Pettit Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Bloomsburg (7-0) picked up its sixth shutout of the season while holding Roberts Wesleyan (3-2) without a shot in the contest. It is the second game in a row that the maroon and gold have held its opponent shotless.

Early in the contest, Jasmine Fink (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) took the ball down the right side and into the shooting circle before finding Kate Ferguson (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) in front of the net for the first goal of the game. Later in the quarter, Jessica Serafin (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) notched her first of the year to make it 2-0 for the Huskies.

On a penalty corner at the beginning of the second quarter, Laura Albert (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) found Alexandra Bliss (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) at the top of the circle who rifled home the third goal of the game.

Ferguson put pressure on the Redhawks near the end of the half, collecting her own blocked shot before chipping a reverse shot into the cage for her second of the game.

It did not take long for Bloomsburg to find the back of the net in the third quarter as Ferguson found Morgan Magditch (Kintersville, Pa./Palisades) in front to advance the lead to 5-0. Halfway through the frame Arianna Deliso (Easton, Pa./Easton) potted her first of the game with help from Sophie Lawler (Newport, Pa./Newport).

The maroon and gold continued to push offensively in the fourth, as it took just 76 seconds for Deliso to record her second of the game. Kendall Iasiello (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) notched the final goal of the game.

Bloomsburg finished the game with 27 shots and 15 shots on goal.

The Huskies return to Steph Pettit Stadium on Sunday, September 21 as they take on D'Youville at 11 a.m.
