LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's volleyball team extended its winning-streak to four games, defeating Edinboro in a five-set thriller at the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Bloomsburg (7-3) notched 51 kills on the day with
Marlee Johnson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) leading the team with 16.
Katie Kuehl (Aston, Pa./Archmere Academy (Del.)) followed closely behind with 15 kills and
Emily Gustie (Crofton, Md./Crofton) tallied eight on the day. Setters
Jessica Rimbo (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) and
Erin Clark (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert) combined for 38 assists in the match, with Clark recording a match-leading 25.

Three early kills from Kuehl in the first set helped to establish a 7-2 lead for the Huskies. Edinboro (5-4) posted four-straight points to close the gap before a back-and-forth exchange brought the score to 9-8 in favor of the maroon and gold. After two points from the Huskies, the Fighting Scots went on a 6-0 run to take a 14-11 lead. The two sides battled to a 23-20 lead for Edinboro. A kill from
Sophie Wales (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) kickstarted a comeback for Bloomsburg, scoring five straight to take the lead. The Fighting Scots tied the game before Johnson and Gustie closed out the set, 26-24, with a pair of kills.

The two sides battled in lockstep for much of the second set, with neither side taking a lead larger than two points until a pair of errors gave the Huskies a 14-11 lead. After a another back-and-forth, Bloomsburg took a 19-17 lead. From there, the Fighting Scots rattled off eight straight to take the set and even the match at 1-1.

Edinboro kept the momentum through the start of the third set, jumping out to a 9-5 lead. The Huskies then went on a 4-0 run to tie the set as
Alynna Haggadone (Broomfield, Colo./Legacy) post a pair of kills. Bloomsburg would then take the lead at 12-10 before the Fighting Scots notched a 6-1 run to regain the lead. Bloomsburg was unable to close the gap, dropping the third set, 25-21.

With the match on the line, the Huskies came out firing on all cylinders to take a 7-0 lead. The early run saw a trio of aces from Clark while Johnson tallied two kills. The Huskies pushed its lead to 17-7 on a combination of kills and errors from the Fighting Scots. Edinboro wouldn't go down without a fight, pulling within one point of the lead on an 13-4 run. Bloomsburg cut off the comeback bid with four-straight points to force a fifth set. Â

Edinboro jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fifth set. Back-and-forth exchanges moved the score to 11-6 with the Huskies behind near the end of the set. A three-point run for Bloomsburg pulled the Huskies within two. Looking to spark the late comeback, Johnson posted back-to-back kills to pull Bloomsburg within one. Three-straight errors from the Fighting Scots put the maroon and gold up 14-12 before Clark closed out the set in style with an ace.

Entering conference play with a 7-3 record, the Huskies are off to their best start in program history.

Bloomsburg opens its PSAC slate on Tuesday, September 23 for the home opener against Lok Haven at 6 p.m. inside the Nelson Field House.
