#6 Field Hockey Rolls in PSAC Opener Over Frostburg State

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The No. 6 Bloomsburg field hockey team extended its unbeaten start to 10 games, defeating Frostburg State 7–3 on Saturday afternoon at Steph Pettit Stadium.

The Huskies struck early and often, building a multi-goal cushion before weathering a late run by Frostburg State to close out the win.

Bloomsburg drew first blood in the opening period. At 7:27, Alyxandra Flick (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) collected a pass from Sophie Lawler (Newport, Pa./Newport) and ripped home her third goal of the season. Less than 20 seconds later, Jessica Serafin (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) slotted home her first of 2025 off an assist from Kate Ferguson (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township), pushing Bloomsburg to a 2-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Bloomsburg extended its advantage when Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) converted a penalty corner assisted by Lawler (12th goal). Frostburg responded before halftime when Paige Leitzel tallied on a feed from Sofia Boyle, cutting the deficit to 3–1.

The third frame belonged to the Huskies. Just 42 seconds in, Bush netted her second of the day, assisted by Ferguson (13th goal). Midway through the period, Hannah Huddleson (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone Area) converted a penalty stroke for her first tally of the season. Moments later, Morgan Magditch (Kintersville, Pa./Palisades) added Bloomsburg's sixth goal off an assist from Flick.

Frostburg clipped Bloomsburg's lead to 6-2 in the fourth, when Caroline Earnshaw scored unassisted and later Piper Taylor struck off a corner play assisted by Rachel Young. But Bloomsburg sealed the game with Alli Bucher (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) netting the final goal at 59:55, assisted by Flick, to close out the 7–3 victory.

With the victory, Bloomsburg improves to 9–0 overall and 1–0 in PSAC play; Frostburg falls to 1–7 (0–1 PSAC).

Bloomsburg held a 16-11 advantage in shots though the Bobcats had a slight 8-7 edge in penalty corners.
