No. 6 Field Hockey Shuts Out Franklin Pierce in 4-0 Win

Rindge, N.H. – The No.6-ranked Bloomsburg field hockey team took down Franklin Pierce, 4-0, in a non-conference matchup at Sodexo Field on Saturday afternoon.

Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) led the Huskies with a pair of goals while Sophie Lawler (Newport, Pa./Newport) and Alyxandra Flick (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) each netted a goal of their own.

The Huskies got on the board four minutes into the contest as a deflected pass from Jessica Serafin (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) found Bush alone in front of the net to drive the opening score past FPU goalkeeper Zoe Noorlag.

Just over two minutes later, Lawler potted her first of the year by driving into a shooting circle and launching a shot off a challenging Noorlag that deflected off her leg pad and into the net.

The Huskies stood tall defensively, holding the Ravens without a shot on goal in the first half.

Bloomsburg extended its lead to 3-0 in the third quarter when Flick drove to the right side of the shooting circle and fired a shot through screens in front and snuck her second goal of the season inside the left post.

Early in the fourth, Bush scored her second of the season as sophomore Reagan Iasiello found the junior forward in front to make it 4-0. Bush's second goal marked the 20th goal of her career.

Goalkeeper Maura Greek (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) and the Huskies withstood late chances from Franklin Pierce to secure the second shutout victory of the season for the maroon and gold.

Overall, Bloomsburg outshout the Ravens 15-7 while holding an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The Huskies conclude its road trip on Sunday, September 7 as they face off against American International at 1 p.m. in Springfield, Massachusetts.
