Lackawanna is averaging 92.8 rushing yards per game and 2.5 yards per attempt, led by Jalen Fletcher with 177 yards and two touchdowns.
BLOOMSBURG'S PASS RUSH VS. LACKAWANNA'S PROTECTION: Bloomsburg leads the PSAC with 2.75 sacks per game, with
Nahzier Booker (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) and
Ian Donohue (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) each averaging 1.13 sacks per contest. Lackawanna has surrendered 14 sacks through four games, setting up a key matchup between the Huskies' defensive front and the Falcons' pass protection.
TURNOVER BATTLE: Bloomsburg has generated seven takeaways through four games, including four interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Lackawanna has committed 11 turnovers, including 10 interceptions, making ball security a key factor against a Huskies defense that has consistently created pressure.
THIRD-DOWN EXECUTION: Bloomsburg has converted 23 of 56 third downs for the season (41.1%), while its defense has limited opponents to a 38.9% conversion rate. Lackawanna has converted 15 of 55 third-down opportunities (27.3%), putting added emphasis on the Falcons' ability to stay on the field against one of Division II's top defenses.
AN UNPRECEDENTED YEAR OF TRANSITION
Lackawanna College is in the midst of a historic transition from the National Junior College Athletic Association to NCAA Division II. After more than 70 years as an NJCAA member, including longtime membership in Region XIX, Lackawanna completed its final season of junior college competition during the 2025-26 academic year. In June 2025, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference extended an invitation to Lackawanna to become the league's 18th member, contingent upon the college successfully completing the NCAA Division II membership process. The move would make Lackawanna just the second NJCAA institution with a football program to transition to NCAA Division II.
The 2026-27 academic year serves as a bridge between the two levels. Lackawanna is competing without an official conference or national governing-body affiliation while preparing for entry into the PSAC and NCAA Division II. To aid that transition, the PSAC incorporated the Falcons into its schedules, giving Lackawanna a full slate against four-year competition and many of its future conference opponents. The college anticipates beginning its transition into the PSAC and NCAA Division II in 2027-28 as it works through the NCAA membership process.
For football, the change represents a significant departure from the program's NJCAA history. Lackawanna compiled a 221-109-1 (.669) record, won nine Northeast Football Conference championships and appeared in 13 postseason bowls during its junior college era. The Falcons are now testing themselves against established four-year programs while simultaneously adapting their roster, administration and athletic department for the requirements of NCAA Division II competition.
