LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After playing pivotal roles in Bloomsburg's 27-21 road victory over No. 24 Shepherd, Nahzier Booker (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) and Peter Kashynski (Falls Church, Va./Justice) earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division weekly honors, with Booker named Defensive Athlete of the Week and Kashynski selected as Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
Booker delivered two critical defensive plays as the Huskies limited Shepherd to just 214 yards of total offense and 14 offensive points. Late in the first half, Booker deflected a pass that Garrett Garcia (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) intercepted, preserving Bloomsburg's 17-14 halftime advantage.
With the Huskies protecting a 24-21 lead early in the fourth quarter, Booker intercepted Shepherd quarterback Jackson Sigler at the Bloomsburg 39-yard line, ending a scoring threat and setting up a 10-play, 40-yard drive that consumed 5:51 and resulted in the game's final points.
The Bloomsburg defense held a Shepherd offense averaging 355.0 yards and 31.3 points per game to just 37 rushing yards, nine first downs and two third-down conversions. The Huskies intercepted three passes against a Rams team that entered the weekend ranked third nationally in fewest turnovers lost.
Kashynski accounted for nine points in the victory, connecting on two field-goal attempts and converting all three extra points.
The Huskies' kicker connected from 40 yards in the second quarter to cut Shepherd's lead to 14-10, capping a 12-play, 59-yard possession. He delivered again with 4:48 remaining in the fourth quarter, converting a 37-yard field goal to extend Bloomsburg's advantage to 27-21 and force the Rams to pursue a touchdown on their final possessions.
Booker earned his second PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week honor of the season, while Kashynski collected his first Special Teams Athlete of the Week recognition of 2026.
Bloomsburg (5-2, 2-1 PSAC East) returns to Danny Hale Field at Redman Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 24, to host Millersville for Homecoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
