SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Bloomsburg men's swimming team opened its dual-meet schedule with a dominant performance Friday evening, defeating Shippensburg, 149-55, behind a balanced effort that featured victories throughout the lineup.

The Huskies set the tone immediately in the 200-yard medley relay as Tommy Houck, Connor McClurkin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy), Nick Lennon (Wilmington, Del./Saint Marks) and Ian Hamilton (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) touched first in 1:36.90. Bloomsburg also claimed third with John David Humphreys, Malachi Moyer (/), Adler Zawodny (Hellertown, Pa./CCA) and Tyler Tinsley (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) finishing in 1:37.90.

Bloomsburg carried the early momentum into the distance events as Max McCloskey (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) and Cole Bolesta (/) went 1-2 in the 1,000 freestyle. McCloskey won in 10:34.01, narrowly ahead of Bolesta's 10:36.08.

The Huskies followed with a sweep of the top three spots in the 200 freestyle. Ethan Coffman (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) earned the victory with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying time of 1:46.97, while Houck also hit the conference standard with a runner-up time of 1:48.82. Jason Kutufaris (/) completed the sweep in 1:51.34.

Jack Drake (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg Area) added another victory in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in a PSAC qualifying time of 21.39. Hamilton and Zawodny also recorded conference qualifying marks in the event at 22.26 and 22.34, respectively.

Brayden Kemezis (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) continued the Huskies' run with a win in the 200 individual medley. Kemezis posted a PSAC qualifying time of 1:59.29, while Moyer took second in 2:03.41.

Drake picked up his second individual victory of the evening in the 100 butterfly, finishing in a PSAC qualifying 51.95. Lennon followed in second at 53.64, giving Bloomsburg another 1-2 finish.

Houck joined Drake as a multiple-event winner, taking the 100 freestyle in 47.64 to secure another PSAC qualifying performance. Daryn Ginter (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area) finished third overall in 48.60, also eclipsing the conference standard.

The Huskies continued to control the meet in the backstroke, distance and breaststroke events. Humphreys and Colin Nash (Abington, Pa/Abington) went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke with times of 55.72 and 56.32, respectively. Kemezis added his second individual win by taking the 500 freestyle in 5:00.06, and Moyer and McClurkin finished first and second in the 100 breaststroke at 1:01.44 and 1:02.12.

Bloomsburg capped the victory in fitting fashion with another relay win. Drake, Coffman, Ginter and Hamilton combined to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:25.63, edging Shippensburg's top quartet by nearly a second.
