Women's Soccer Suffers Road Defeat to No. 15 West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's soccer team saw its six-match winning streak snapped with a 3-0 defeat on the road to No. 15 West Chester on Saturday.

The Huskies (7-4, 5-4 PSAC East) conceded an early goal to the Golden Rams (8-1-1, 6-1-1 PSAC East) and never recovered. Despite piecing together a positive showing in the first half, Bloomsburg would give up a second goal to trail 2-0 at halftime. A third for West Chester in the 64th minute would only widen the gap before the final whistle.

How It Happened:
The Huskies opened the day seeking to match the Golden Rams in the attack. Bloomsburg was willing and ready to fire off on its early chances, getting a pair of shots off inside the first seven minutes. The Huskies would get a bad run of luck, as an intended ball toward the back post had enough height and sail to find its way into the top corner before being stopped.

Bloomsburg remained aggressive in hopes of finding an equalizer, initially having to fend off a period of shots from West Chester. The Huskies did their best work in an attempt to create chaos inside the 18-yard box, being able to draw several corner kicks and shots on target in and around the box with shots from Madelyn Blake (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) and Kelsey Beatie (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink).

Despite Bloomsburg's best efforts offensively and defensively, holding the Golden Rams without a shot for nearly 13 minutes, West Chester would be the team to find the next goal with a low pass across the face of goal to give the hosts a 2-0 lead entering the halftime break.

The Huskies continued to fire away in hope of creating a swing of momentum in their favor. Bloomsburg generated several chances in the first 10 minutes into the second half, ultimately unable to break through the Golden Rams' defense in that time or the full 90 minutes. West Chester began creeping into the attacking third, finding opportunities from the corner flag. It would be from the corner kick that the Golden Rams would strike for the third and final time to put away the match.

Number of Note:
6 - The six consecutive victories for Bloomsburg entering Saturday were the longest such streak in some years. The Huskies matched the team's longest winning streak since the 2021 squad, which went six in a row.

On the Horizon:
Bloomsburg is back on the road for another PSAC contest, setting their sights on a 2:30 p.m. clash against No. 15 West Chester.
