Men's Basketball Drops Contest with Millersville on Senior Day

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team fell to Millersville on Senior Day, 84-54, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) inside the Nelson Field House on Saturday afternoon.

Seniors Camden Glass (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls), Naeem Purnell-Northern (Darby, Pa./Penn Wood) and Gabe Springer (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wallenpaupack) were recognized in a pregame ceremony alongside social media coordinator Addie Sondberg.

Bloomsburg (7-19, 4-15 PSAC) went 17-for-57 from the floor (33.3 percent) while scoring five three pointers. Millersville (19-8, 14-6) posted 26-for-58 shooting (44.8 percent) in the contest.

Courtney Davis II (Gainesville, Va./Patriot) led the team in scoring with 11 points, going 3-for-8 on the day while shooting 5-for-6 from the line. Ries Naugle (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and 4-or-7 to end the day with ten points.

An early jumper from Millersville's Saraj Ali put the visitors ahead just 20 seconds in. A quick response from Davis knotted the score a two before the two sides went scoreless over the next two minutes. A free throw from the Marauders gave them the lead before Naugle put the Huskies ahead on a layup.

Ali answered for Millersville to kickstart a 12-4 run to move the Marauders' lead to 15-6.  The visitors continued to outpace Bloomsburg in the opening half, holding the Huskies to just 23 points in the frame. A late flurry of threes from El Matthews-Spratley lifted Millersville to a 52-23 lead at halftime.

The Marauders kept hold of the momentum to start the second half, holding the home team without a point for the first three and a half minutes. Springer broke the scoring drought on a free throw. It would take until the 14:49-minue mark for Bloomsburg to record its first points from the floor, as Naugle drained a three-pointer to make it 59-27. Millersville kept the Huskies at bay for the remainder of the contest, downing the maroon and gold, 84-54.

Bloomsburg is back inside the Nelson Field House on Wednesday, February 25 as the host Lock Haven at 7:30 PM.
