Â
Bloomsburg fell behind in the bottom of the first, opting to turn a double play with runs on the corners rather than make the play at the plate.
Â
It didn't take long for the Huskies to respond as Weaver led off the second with a double. After advancing on a wild pitch the first baseman was brought home by Trommer who reached on an infield error. Â Trommer was later brought in as the go-ahead run as a bunt to third base from Russo gave the Huskies the lead. Levis was then brought in on an RBI-single to centerfield from Freda to make it 3-1.
Â
The Huskies tacked on another two runs in the third thanks to four singles and a double.
Judah Miller's (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) double brought in the fourth run in
Casey O'Brien (Moosic, Pa./Riverside) while Leivs notched his second RBI in as many innings on a single to the shortstop to make it 5-1.
Â
Lock Haven slowly cut into the lead making it 5-2 on an RBI-double in the fourth before scoring their third in the sixth on a left field single.
Â
With a left-handed pitcher on the mound in the seventh, Weaver took advantage a stole home to make it 6-3 for the Huskies. A throwing error later in the frame saw O'Brien advance the Bloomsburg lead to four runs.
Â
The Bald Eagles continued to fight its way back into the ballgame, scoring three runs on three hits in the seventh pull within one of the lead.
Â
Bloomsburg pulled away late, scoring five runs on four hits in the top of the ninth before shutting down the Haven in the bottom of the frame to take the 12-6 victory.
Â
Xander Velez (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) earned the win, striking out four across two innings as the starter.
Brian Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) became the first Huskies' pitcher this season to record a save, pitching the final three innings with two strikeouts and no runs allowed.
Â
The maroon and gold are right back in action on Wednesday, April 15 as they travel to Wilmington for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Wildcats.
