BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg baseball team tallied 19 runs in the opener of its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader with Kutztown before dropping the nightcap, 2-1, at Danny Litwhiler Field on Friday afternoon.

Bloomsburg (21-14, 9-9 PSAC East) posted 21 hits across the doubleheader.
Grant Russo (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazleton Area),
Jace Jarmon (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) and
Anthony Trommer (Trevose, Pa./Neshaminy) each finished the day with four hits. Trommer went 3-for-4 in the opener while recording an impressive six RBIs. Jarmon went 4-for-6 on the day with a pair of doubles in day one. Overall, nine different Huskies notched at least one base hit on the day.

Game One – Bloomsburg 19, Kutztown 0

Russo led off the twin bill with an infield single before stealing a pair of bases. A walk to
Matt Freda (Lafayette, N.J./High Point Regional) and another stolen base set the stage for an RBI-groundout from
Dylan Hirsh (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) to open the scoring.
Justin Weaver (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) drew a walk to place runners on the corners before
Casey O'Brien (Moosic, Pa./Riverside) singled to center field to drive in the second run.

Jeremy Cawley (Duryea, Pa./Pittston Area) wore a pitch to load the bases for Trommer who launched a double down the right-field line to clear the bases and give the Huskies a 5-0 lead. Jarmon brought one more run across the plate before the end of the first inning, scoring Trommer with a double of his own.

A walk and an error put runners on the corners early in the second, allowing Weaver to bring Freda home on a single through the left side gap.
Drew Balestrini (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) brought in the eighth run of the contest on a right-field single to score Hirsh. O'Brien followed suit as he lined a two-RBI single up the middle to make it 10-0 before a single out was recorded in the second.

The bottom of the third saw the Huskies continue to put barrel to bat as three singles advanced the score to 12-0. After a pitching change, Balestrini drew a walk to load the bases for
Judah Miller (Halifax, Pa./Halifax). Miller reached on a fielder's choice, scoring
Joe Levis (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) to make it 13-0. Cawley was hit for the second time in the contest giving Trommer another at bat with the bases juiced. Trommer drove in to more runs, making it 15-0 on a single up the middle.

After an early flyout, five consecutive walks to start the bottom of the fourth saw the the score move to 17-0 for the home team. Trommer posted his sixth RBI on a sacrifice fly to score Balestrini. Jarmon's second double of the day drove in the final run of the day for Bloomsburg, making it 19-0 for the maroon and gold.

Brandon Wozniak (Nanticoke, Pa./Nanticoke Area) picked up his fourth win of the season while tossing a complete game shutout. The sophomore allowed just two hits and no walks with a pair of strikeouts.

Game Two – Kutztown 2, Bloomsburg 1

Kutztown (16-18, 6-12) struck first in the night cap, as a walk in the second inning opened the door for back-to-back singles to give the Golden Bears their first run of the day. Cam Burr posted the third single of the inning to take a 2-0 lead.

The Huskies were held off the board until the bottom of the sixth when a pair of singles set up Freda for a sacrifice fly to score Jarmon. The Huskies were unable to complete the comeback as they fell 2-1 in game two,

Andrew Armstrong (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) started the contest on the mound and posted six strikeouts across 3.2 innings of work before being tacked with the loss.
Brian Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) went 3.1 innings in relief and struck out two.

Bloomsburg heads to Kutztown on Saturday, April 18 as they complete the season series against the Golden Bears with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
