KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Bloomsburg baseball team held of Kutztown to collect a pair of victories in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader with Kutztown at North Campus Field on Saturday afternoon.

Bloomsburg (23-14, 11-9 PSAC East) notched 16 hits in the two games, with four of those coming off the bat of
Justin Weaver (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville). The first baseman posted two runs and a double as he went 4-for-7 on the day.
Anthony Trommer (Trevose, Pa./Neshaminy) continued his impressive weekend, as he went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the opener.

Game One – Bloomsburg 4, Kutztown 3

Kutztown (16-20, 6-14) got the scoring started in a bottom of the first as a triple from Nick Varda set up Michael Burns for the RBI-single to centerfield.

The Huskies responded in the top of the second as Trommer battled in the leadoff at-bat, getting hit by the ninth pitch of the plate appearance. A single to right center from
Judah Miller (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) later in the frame tied the contest as Trommer scored from second.

Aiden Murphy (Mountain Top, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) shut down the Golden Bears in the bottom of the second, striking out the side to go three-up, three-down.

The top of the third saw
Matt Freda (Lafayette, N.J./High Point Regional) and
Justin Weaver (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) draw walks to start the inning.
Drew Balestrini (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) reached on a fielder's choice as KU elected to get Freda out at third. After scoring early in the contest, Trommer launched a double to left field to give Bloomsburg the 3-1 lead.

The two sides kept each other off the board until the bottom of the sixth as Kutztown pulled within one on an RBI-single through the right side.

Trommer posted his third RBI of the day in the top of the seventh as he singled down the left field line to score Weaver.

Kutztown got one back in the bottom of the seventh but the Huskies shutdown the comeback to take the 4-3 win.

Murphy moved to 7-0 on the season, allowing just two runs while striking out eight.
Bryce Danish (Mount Union, Pa./Mount Union Area) picked up the save, as he struck out one in the final inning.

Game Two – Bloomsburg 2, Kutztown 0

The nightcap proved to be a defensive showcase in the early goings, as the two teams combined for just four hits in through three innings.

Walks to Trommer and
Nico Ingalls (Newton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) set the stage for
Joe Levis (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) to drive in the game's first run on a single to right center. The subsequent at bat saw Miller line one through the right side to bring in Ingalls and make it 2-0.

The Huskies contained the Golden Bears from that point on, not allowing the home team to make it past second base for the remainder of the contest.

Xander Velez (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) recorded his first career shutout while tossing the first complete game of his career. The junior struck out five while allowing just four hits and a walk.

Bloomsburg is back in action on Tuesday, April 21 as they host Lock Haven for a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
