BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Huskies win game two in non-conference doubleheader against Pitt-Johnstown.
Jenna Kaufman (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) led the team in RBIs with three coming from a home run in game two.
Carly Wywoda (Dupont, Pa./Holy Cross) also had a great showing as she had two hits with one RBI in game one.
Game one - Bloomsburg 2, Pitt-Johnstown 7
The Huskies struck first in the match up with
Alizabeth Schuler (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) scoring off of a passed ball. The Mountain Cats tied the game up with an RBI double in the top of the second inning.Â
Bloomsburg then lost control as Pitt-Johnstown scored six straight runs throughout the game.
Gabby Starr (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) then replaced Kaufman in the game and reached first on a walk. Wywoda brought Starr home to give the Huskies their final run of the game. The Mountain Cats took game one 7-2.
Game two - Bloomsburg 6, Pitt-Johnstown 3
The Huskies found themselves in a hole to start the game with the Mountain Cats taking a 3-0 lead ending the top of the fourth inning.Â
This ignited a massive bottom of fourth for Bloomsburg, starting with Schuler singling to center field. Thompson followed behind by also singling to center field. Wenrich loaded the bases for the PSAC East Athlete of the Week,
Josie Straigis (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe), after being walked. Straigis then hit a 2-RBI single to bring the lead down 3-2. Kaufman stepped to the plate and, with one swing, she gave Bloomsburg the lead by blasting one out of Jan M. Hutchinson Field.
Reagan Wiest (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) scored the final run for Bloomsburg by scoring on a passed ball.Â
Becca Varhula (Philadelphia, Pa./School Lane Charter - IB) recorded her fourth win on the year with Straigis earning the Huskies' first save of the year.Â
On the Horizon:
Bloomsburg will be back in action in to face the Bald Eagles in Lock Haven on April 24. Game one will start at 2 p.m.
