BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's tennis team battled East Stroudsburg for the top seed in the PSAC East on Wednesday at the Burt Reese Tennis Center, After a tough back and forth match, the Warriors held on for a 5-2 win over the Huskies.
The loss drops Bloomsburg to 4-1 in conference play and secures the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

The Warriors won the first match at the day 6-1 at No. 2 doubles but the pair of
Lily Sierka (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park) and
Sarah Buck (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) evened the doubles matches at 1-1 with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles. The Warriors claimed the doubles point with a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles to take a 1-0 match lead.

East Stroudsburg took a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and extended its lead to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles. Sierka got the Huskies on the board with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No 4 singles over Alice Ehrenlechner.

The Warriors clinched the match win with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles before
Nicole Ilkovic (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy High School) cut the lead to 4-2 with comeback win at No. 1 singles. After dropping the first set 6-1, Ilkovic came back to win 6-3, 6-2 in the final two sets to cut into the Warrior lead.

East Stroudsburg closed out the match with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 win at No. 2 singles to seal the 5-2 win.

The Huskies close out the regular season on Sunday against Chestnut Hill College. The PSAC Tournament gets underway on Tuesday, April 28 when the second-seeded Huskies host No. 3 West Chester for a 2:00 p.m. match.
