BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Chestnut Hill in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match on Sunday afternoon at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
Chestnut Hill (7-7, 5-1 PSAC) secured the early advantage by sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles play. The Griffins picked up wins at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 doubles by scores of 6-2, 6-3, and 6-3, respectively.
In singles action, Chestnut Hill won five of six matches to clinch the team victory. At the top spot,
Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/Russian Gymnasium at the State Russian Museum) fell in straight sets to Noah Cutting, 6-3, 7-5.
Alejandro Higuera (Ciudad Obregon, Mexico/Colegio Weston) battled at No. 2 singles before being forced to retire in the third set after splitting the opening two sets.
Jack Seaborn (Cambridge, England/The Leys School) also pushed his opponent at No. 3 singles but dropped a pair of close 7-5 decisions.
Bloomsburg's lone point came at No. 4 singles, where
Jaime Soria (Pamplona, Spain/Liceo Monjardin) earned a strong 6-3, 7-6 victory to prevent the sweep.
Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) and
Landon Wall (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca High School) rounded out the singles lineup, falling at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
The Huskies finish the regular season 7-7 overall and 3-3 in PSAC play following the loss.
Bloomsburg returns to action on Friday, May 1 when the Huskies host the 2026 PSAC Men's Tennis Championship Tournament. Bloomsburg squares off against the top-seed Jefferson at 10:00 a.m.
