BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg men's tennis team played top-seeded Jefferson in a tightly contested match, but fell to the Rams 4-0 in the conference semifinals.
The Rams got off to a quick start with a 6-1 win at No. 3 Doubles but
Jack Seaborn (Cambridge, England/The Leys School) and
Jaime Soria (Pamplona, Spain/Liceo Monjardin) played Nicolas Trebuchet and Johary Rabetrano tough but the pair from Jefferson held on for a 6-4 win to seal the doubles point.
Antonio Mateos Melenchon earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Soria at No. 4 singles while Filip Slavkovic won 6-3, 6-1 over
Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) at No. 5 singles. Despite an injury,
Landon Wall (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca High School) finished out his match at No. 6 singles but Matthew Cizmarik won 6-3, 6-1.
Seaborn won the first set at No. 2 singles 6-1, but Rabetrano came back to tie the match with a 6-2 win in the second set before the match was clinched.
Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/Russian Gymnasium at the State Russian Museum) was leading 4-2 in the second set after dropping the first 7-5 at No. 1 singles when the match was called.
The Huskies sit at 7-8 overall and are ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic Region. Bloomsburg will learn its NCAA Regional fate on Monday during the selection show at 8:30 p.m.
