MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Bloomsburg softball team
toppled the Mansfield Mountaineers by scoring a total of 19 runs on 29 hits.
Game one was dominated by shortstop
Alizabeth Schuler (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) who recording four hits on four at-bats. She also had three RBIs, two doubles and two runs.
Allie Wenrich (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) had a great showing in game two as she had three hits, four RBIs, three runs and a home run.
Sarah Yamrick (Fort Myers, Fla./Bishop Verot) pitched a shutout in game one and recorded eight strikeouts and gained her 10th win of the season. She struck out eight more Mountaineers in game two to earn the save.
Game one - Bloomsburg 10, Mansfield 0
The Huskies dominated game one and starting the top of the second with a score.
Reagan Wiest (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) singled to center field and advanced to second from
Taylor Kranzley's (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) single up the middle. Schuler hit another one up the middle, bringing in Wiest for the Huskies' first run of the game.
In the top of the fourth, Wiest singled again, this time towards left field.
Taylor Welsh (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) doubled towards the right fence to advance Wiest to third base. Kranzley hit an RBI single to left field, bringing in Wiest and advancing Welsh to third. Schuler doubled on a bunt which brought in Welsh to make it 3-0 with no outs.
Jenna Kaufman (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) brought both Schuler and Kranzley on a 2-RBI single to make it a 5-0 lead.
The Huskies scored their final runs in the top of the sixth, starting with Kranzley singling to center field. Schuler got her fourth hit of the game as she brought Kranzley in on a double.
Jovie Valenzuela (Poconos, Pa./Pleasant Valley) singled to advance Schuler closer to home plate. After
Sydney Thompson (Karthaus, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) reached on an error, Valenzuela ran home to make it 7-0.
Wenrich stepped to the plate and singled in the infield to load up the bases for
Carly Wywoda (Dupont, Pa./Holy Cross). Wywoda then blasted one to right field to bring Thompson and Valenzuela home, bolstering the lead to 9-0. Yamrick gave the Huskies their final run by hitting Wenrich home on a sacrifice fly. The game was over with Bloomsburg on top 10-0.
Game two - Bloomsburg 9, Mansfield 6
Mansfield struck first in this game as they took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Huskies fired back with Wenrich singling and then advancing to second from a
Josie Straigis (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe) single. Wiest singled to right field, bringing Wenrich home and tying the game 1-1.
In the bottom of the third, the Huskies started to heighten their lead with Kranzley reaching first on an error. Kaufman was walked and Kranzley advanced to third on a passed ball. Thompson hit Kranzley home on an RBI single, making it 2-0. With Thompson and Kaufman on first and second, Wenrich hit the ball out of the park for her ninth home run of the season. The top of the third ended with Bloomsburg up 5-1.
Mansfield was not deterred as they scored five straight runs in the bottom of the third, taking a 6-5 lead.
Bloomsburg swung the momentum back in their favor with Wenrich singling up the middle, bringing Thompson home. Straigis hit Thompson in on a single of her own while Wiest earned another RBI after grounding out, bringing Wenrich home. Yamrick again gave the Huskies their final final run by hitting Straigis home on a ground out. Mansfield was unable to come back after Yamrick came in for the save. The game ended 9-6 with Bloomsburg on top.

Bloomsburg will face the Shepherd Rams on April 10 at Jan M. Hutchinson Field. The doubleheader will start at 2 p.m.
