BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg field hockey team will begin the 2026 season ranked eighth in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II Preseason Coaches Poll, released Tuesday afternoon.
The Huskies received 27 points in the national poll after being selected fifth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll earlier this month.
Defending PSAC and NCAA Division II national champion Shippensburg earned five first-place votes and claimed the top spot in the national rankings. Kutztown received the remaining three first-place votes and was ranked second, followed by Newberry, East Stroudsburg and West Chester.
Saint Anselm was ranked sixth, followed by Assumption, Bloomsburg, Bentley and Lander to complete the top 10. Bloomsburg was one of five PSAC programs included in the preseason rankings, with four conference teams occupying spots in the national top five.
Head coach Nikki Hartranft and the Huskies enter the season following their fourth consecutive appearance in the PSAC Tournament. Bloomsburg finished the 2025 campaign 13-5 overall and 5-4 in conference play after opening the year with 10 straight victories.
The Huskies outscored their opponents 62-17 last season, averaging 3.44 goals per game while surrendering just 0.94 goals per contest. Bloomsburg recorded eight shutouts during the campaign.
Senior Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) headlines the returning offensive group after leading the Huskies with 16 goals and 34 points last season. Bush started all 18 games and scored six game-winning goals.
Senior Sophie Lawler (Newport, Pa./Newport) returns after recording three goals and a team-high seven assists, while sophomore Arianna Deliso (Easton, Pa./Easton) collected six goals and one assist during her debut season. Senior Alyxandra Flick (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) added four goals, two assists and three game-winning goals in 2025.
Bloomsburg begins the regular season with a two-game trip to New Hampshire. The Huskies open against Southern New Hampshire on Friday, Sept. 4, at 4:00 p.m. before facing sixth-ranked Saint Anselm on Sunday, Sept. 6, at noon.
The home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9, when Bloomsburg hosts Adelphi at Steph Pettit Stadium at 4:00 p.m.
