ROCHESTER, N.Y. -
Sophie Lawler (Newport, Pa./Newport) earns a pair of goals to lead the Huskies to a dominant 5-0 victory over Roberts Wesleyan.
Lawler earns her first two goals of the season as they both came early in the first and second period.
Lexy Freed (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) earned her second goal of the season with an assist from
Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs).
Kaylyn Elliott (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) scored as well, her second, which was assisted by
Jordan Bond (Dallas, Pa./Dallas).
Laura Albert (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) scored the final goal of the game to put an exclamation point on their victory.
Raegan Iasiello (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) got her third assist of the season in Lawler's first goal. Bond and Bush earned assists as well.
The Huskies rotated goalies in the match up starting with
Molly Bross (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge).
Charlotte Mack (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) made her collegiate debut in the third period and earned her first career save.
Laurel Unger (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) saw game time as well in the final period.
First Half:
Lawler started the game out hot by scoring her first goal of the season and the first goal of the game with three minutes in. The Bloomsburg defense continues to lockdown opponents with Roberts Wesleyan's first of three shots of the game being blocked.
Lawler again made an impact within the first seconds of the second period by scoring once more. Freed scored two minutes later and was assisted by Bush. Elliott gave the Huskies the hat trick in the period by also earning a goal, making 4-0 in just the first half.
Second Half:
Albert scored the final goal of the game to make it 5-0. Mack earned her first save of her career in this period as well.
Bloomsburg Defense:
The Huskies defense has now shutout four teams out of five during their dominant 5-0 start to the season. Bloomsburg has also outscored the competition 16-3 with a the opponents scoring 0.60 goals per game. Their opponents also have a 0.071 shot percentage.
On the Horizon:
Bloomsburg will travel to Buffalo, New York to face D'Youville on Sept. 20 at noon.
