BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's soccer team picked up its biggest win of the season on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over No. 17 Kutztown at Steph Pettit Stadium.

After going down 1-0 in the first half, the Huskies (4-3, 2-3 PSAC East) found an equalizer off the foot of
Brooke Coco (Blackwood, N.J./Paul VI) to send the game into halftime tied at 1-1 against the Golden Bears (6-1-1, 4-1 PSAC East). Bloomsburg found its breakthrough moment in the second half, with a service from
Anna Dalesandro (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) to
Cassi Snyder (Hegins, Pa./Tri-Valley) headed home for the 2-1 advantage. Despite throwing the kitchen sink at the Huskies, Kutztown could not force a deadlock against a persistent Bloomsburg defense.

The Huskies celebrated senior day on Saturday, honoring 12 members of the 2026 team. The list of honorees includes

How It Happened:
Kutztown's possession early in the match initially came away with limited consequence through the first 10 minutes of Saturday's match. The visitors managed just one effort inside the first 12 minutes for a side averaging over 23 shots per contest entering the day. The Golden Bears would, however, break through on their second attempt on the afternoon, with Corinne Morgan skipping a cross inside the box to the back post to find Maura Day running free to put the visitors up 1-0.

Bloomsburg wasted little time in its attempt to get back into the match, scoring just over three minutes after going down a goal. The Huskies dispossessed Kutztown in its own defensive half after the Golden Bears tried to clear the ball through the middle of the pitch. Bloomsburg worked the ball into the attacking third and down the right flank. A ball nearing the six-yard box would make its way onto the path of
Olivia Thompson (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts). With her back to the goal, the forward played a pass to Coco along the right side, with the outside back curling a first-time effort off her right foot and into the netting at the far post for the equalizer.

Kutztown would get off another eight shots in the continuation of the half, met with swift resistance by the Huskies.
Izzy Hoffeditz (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) anchored Bloomsburg's defensive aspirations on Saturday, recording a career-high seven saves, four of which came during the first 45 minutes of action. The Huskies' goalkeeper was aided by a defense in high pursuit of the ball, forcing the Golden Bears to settle for long-distance efforts for most of Saturday's match. Bloomsburg got one final look for a second goal in the opening half, as an effort off the foot of
Daryn Savage (Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Wood) from a corner was caught by the Kutztown goalkeeper.

The Golden Bears seemed determined to get out in front once again, doubling down on their commitment to getting bodies forward in the attacking third. The visitors began the second half with an additional three shots, two of which were blocked by Husky defenders and a third corralled by Hoffeditz.

When the opportunity came, Bloomsburg answered the bell to grab the lead in the match. Similar to the first half, the Huskies' opportunity began with a poor clearance from the Kutztown backline, sending a weak-footed effort into the path of a Bloomsburg player. The Huskies successfully switched the field, with an attempted cross from Coco resulting in a free kick from a handball just outside the 18-yard box along the endline. With a well-weighted ball, Dalesandro's cross gave Snyder enough time to settle under the ball and leap over a defender and head the ball past the goalkeeper for the lead.

Desperate for an equalizer, Kutztown gave everything it had to try and find a second goal. A collective defensive effort across the board sealed the result for Bloomsburg. Hoffeditz came up with another two saves in the closing moments of the match, while every Husky committed to stopping the Golden Bears' rallying attempts. Bloomsburg got some assistance from the crossbar in the win, with a hard-running Corinne Morgan from Kutztown having her header bounce off the turf and graze against the top of the crossbar out for a goal kick. With the closing moments ticking off the clock, the Huskies were able to quell the Golden Bears' efforts and walk away with the ranked victory.

Numbers of Note:
22 - Entering the match, Kutztown's top five goal scorers had contributed 22 of the team's 26 goals. None of the five managed a goal against the Huskies on Saturday.

3.71 - The Golden Bears began the day averaging a conference-leading 3.71 goals per contest. Bloomsburg is just the second team this season to keep Kutztown from scoring multiple goals.

17/13 - Saturday's victory marked the second time in the last three seasons the Huskies have taken down a ranked Golden Bears squad. Kutztown entered the weekend tilt No. 17 in the latest United Soccer Coaches National Poll and No. 13 in the national rankings during the 2024 campaign.
