Senior Nick McGuire finished third at the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Edinboro. With his finish, McGuire earned All-PSAC First Team accolades for the first time in his career after nabbing Second Team honors a season ago. Running in a quagmire after several days of rain in the area, McGuire got off a fast start in the race quickly moving into the lead pack of runners on the long straightway to begin the 8k event. After moving out of view, McGuire grabbed the lead and led the field down the hill back into view of the spectators. On the second of three loops, McGuire slipped back to fifth place, but on the final stretch run he passed a runner from Gannon to get third with a time of 27:01. McGuire's third-place finish was the best result for a Bloomsburg runner at the PSAC Championships since 2005 when Justin Shepherd was third. It also marked just the sixth time in school history (since 1959) that a Bloomsburg men's runner has been in the top three at a PSAC championship meet.
