Walzcuk's Overtime Goal Lifts the Huskies Past IUP, 1-0

Box Score

BLOOMSBURG--Junior Katie Walczuk's (Long Valley, NJ, West Morris Central) overtime goal lifted the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team, 1-0, over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent, Indiana University of PA (IUP) on Tuesday night.

Both teams had several scoring opportunities, but were unable to put the ball in the back of the net during the first two halves. Offense for both ends were at a premium, as the teams were able to only put six shots on net.

After a scoreless 90 minutes of play, it took the Huskies just over six minutes in overtime to defeat the Crimson Hawks. Walczuk and freshman Katy Fexa (Allentown, Parkland) connected on the game-winning goal, after Fexa headed the ball to Walczuk, who hit the back of the net.

Bloomsburg's junior goalkeeper Frances Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ, Haddonfield) recorded three saves, while her counterpart Kelly Brennan made three saves for IUP in regulation, until giving up the game winning goal in overtime.

The Huskies, 8-2-2, travel to Davis and Elkins for their next game on Saturday, October 16 at 12:00 pm. The Crimson Hawks, 8-4-1, will host East Stroudsburg on October 16.
