BOX SCORE

MILLERSVILLE—The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team improved its record to 6-1-2 with a 2-0 win over Millersville on Sunday afternoon. The game was a makeup for a one that was rained out in September.

The Huskies got on the board just 1:13 into the game when Kristine Preski (Philadelphia, Owen J. Roberts) took a shot from 40 yards out that was misplayed by the Millersville keeper resulting in a goal. Bloomsburg kept the pressure on the Marauders throughout the first half holding an 11-2 edge in shots. One shot by Katie Walczuk (Long Valley, NJ, West Morris Central) hit the crossbar and one later by Tara Huber (Orefield, Parkland) that was just wide.

Bloomsburg finally was able to add to its lead in the 54th minute when Lauren Stedman (Garnet Valley, Garnet Valley) headed in a shot off a corner kick from Natalie Adams (Wilkes-Barre, Holy Redeemer) to put the Huskies up 2-0.

From there Huskies goalie Frances Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ, Haddonfield) stopped a total of five shots to post the win by shutout.

The Huskies, ranked 13th in the country a week ago, are now 5-1-1 in the PSAC. Millersville falls to 1-8-1, 0-6-1 in the PSAC.

Bloomsburg plays at California (PA) on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
