Men's Tennis Splits Pair

BU Downs West Liberty and Falls to BYU-Hawaii

LAIE, HI-The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team split a pair of matches on its final two days in Hawaii. The Huskies beat West Liberty (WV) 8-1, then, lost to BYU-Hawaii by a score of 9-0.

In the match with West Liberty the Huskies swept all three doubles matches and later posted victories in five of six singles matches. Brandon Cummings (Tallahassee, FL, Chiles), at five singles, pulled out a three-set thriller for the Huskies winning 4-6, 6-2 and 11-9 in the third set. Lee Wexler (Lafayette Hill, Plymouth-Whitemarsh) cruised to an easy win at number three scoring a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Against BYU-Hawaii, the Huskies dropped two close matches in doubles losing 8-5 at both one and three doubles. At one doubles was the team of Fernando Perez (Center Valley, Southern Lehigh) and Ricky Dove (Port Matilda, State College Area), while Alan Hummel (Manhiem, Hempfield) and Cummings were at three doubles. 

The Huskies, 4-3, return to action on Sunday, March 21 hosting the University of the Sciences at 2:00 p.m.
