Bloomsburg Men's Tennis Team Falls in PSAC Semi-Finals

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University lost to Mercyhurst College, 5-4, in the semi-finals of the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) men's tennis championships on Friday.

The Huskies opened a 3-0 lead after doubles losing just 11 games along the way. Bloomsburg's number one team of Fernando Perez (Center Valley, Southern Lehigh) and Brandon Cummings (Tallahassee, FL, Chiles) won 8-2 to lead the way.

In singles play the Lakers rallied for the win taking five of the six singles matches. Mercyhurst,'s Mijo Cotic won in three sets at number two, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5. The Huskies lone win in singles came from Mark Schroeder (Basking Ridge, NJ, Ridge) at number four who rallied from a set down to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Bloomsburg will face Millersville on Saturday in consolation match of the 2010 PSAC championships.

BLOOMSBURG--The Kutztown University men's tennis team rolled past Millersville in the semifinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships 5-0 on Friday.

In doubles Kutztown swept the doubles matches with one of the victories coming from Kaushik Das and Arpit Sharma  at number one in a tough 9-7 victory.

In singles the Golden Bears took control of the match winning two quick wins to seal the victory. One of those victories came from Jonathan Goulet at number two winning convincingly 6-1, 6-1.

Kutztown meets up with Mercyhurst on Saturday in the finals of the PSAC Championships at 11 am.
