BU Takes Third at PSAC Championships

BLOOMSBURG-Bloomsburg University men's tennis team finished in third place in the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships beating Millersville University 5-2 on Saturday.

In doubles, Bloomsburg took two out of three matches. One of those victories came from Mark Schroeder (Basking Ridge, NJ, Ridge) and Ricky Dove (Port Matilda, State College Area) at second doubles winning 8-4.

In singles, the Huskies put the match away with three quick wins. Brandon Cummings (Tallahassee, FL, Chiles) had one of those wins at five singles, winning 6-1, 6-2. Fernando Perez (Center Valley, Southern Lehigh) at first singles sealed the match for the Huskies, winning 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

The Huskies have earned a berth in the NCAA Regionals and will travel to a site yet to be determined on May 5.

The Kutztown University men's tennis team defeated Mercyhurst College 5-2 to win the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Saturday afternoon.

In doubles, the Golden Bears took two of three matches. One of those victories came from Kaushik Das and Arpit Sharma at first doubles, winning 8-4.

In singles, Mercyhurst battled back, but Kutztown proved to be too much. Asok Mukherjee won a touch two-set match at third singles to seal the championship for the Golden Bears, winning 6-4, 7-5.

Kutztown has earned a berth in the NCAA Regionals and will travel to a site yet to be determined on May 5.
