BLOOMSBURG –
Katie Walczuk (Long Valley, NJ, West Morris Central) scored two goals for the Bloomsburg University women's soccer team, defeating Lock Haven (3-2-0, 1-2-0 PSAC) 2-0 on Saturday evening.
Just 59 seconds into the first half, Walczuk scored her third goal of the season, shooting the ball into the left corner of the net and beating goalkeeper Hayley Zinn to give BU a quick 1-0 lead.
At the 47:13 mark in the second half,
Natalie Adams (Wilkes-Barre, Holy Redeemer) assisted Walczuk on her second goal of the game, this time heading the ball into the back of the net and over the hands of Zinn to make it 2-0 Huskies.
The BU defense played well in front of BU goalkeeper
Frances Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ, Haddonfield), allowing just four shots, all coming in the first half. Bloomsburg outshot the Eagles 15-4 for the game.
BU also held the advantage in corner kicks at 8-1.
Nicoletti made two saves while Zinn made seven saves in net.
Bloomsburg (4-0-1, 3-0-0 PSAC) plays on the road at Millersville this Wednesday, Sept. 18 for a 7:30 p.m. start.
