BLOOMSBURG - This weekend, the Bloomsburg University men's tennis team played host to five teams in the BU Invitational, with East Stroudsburg University, Ithaca College, University of Mary Washington, University of Scranton and Wilkes University participating. The Huskies went 20-20 on the weekend as Ricky Dove (Port Matilda, State College Area) finished runner up in the “A” Singles bracket while Dove and Mark Schroeder (Basking Ridge, NJ, Ridge) won the “A” Doubles bracket.

In the “A” Singles bracket, Dove won his first match over Mary Washington's Will Apperson [6-4, 7-5]. In the second round, Dove lost the first set to UMW's Alex Blakhin before he rallied to win [3-6, 6-4, (10-4)]. Dove went on to play in the championship match, where he lost his first set, and despite dominating the second set, he lost the tiebreaker to UMW's Sam Wichlin [3-6, 6-0, (1-10)] and finished second in the bracket.

In the “A” Doubles draw, Dove and Schroeder scored victories over teams from Wilkes University [8-5] and University of Mary Washington [8-2] to advance to the championship and face Kaz Murata and Brian Hope of UMW. Dove and Schroeder went on to win the match [8-6].
