Women's Soccer Conclude Season with 2-1 Win Over ESU

BLOOMSBURG-The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team defeated the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Huskies conclude their season with an overall record of 10-7-1 and 7-6-1 in conference play.

Both teams got off to a slow start due to the impact of the snow. Niether team would get a shot on net until seven minutes into play when the Warriors would take a shot.

In the 13th minute ESU's Ashley McKenna had a one-touch shot to the bottom left of the net, putting the Warriors up 1-0.

Bloomsurg answered with a goal of their own in the 21st minute when Katie Walczuk (Long Valley, NJ, West Morris Central) dribbled past a defender to put the ball in the right side of the net, to even the game at 1-1.

In the second half the Huskies made it 2-1 as Rebecca Lieberman (Randolph, NJ, Randolph) scored her first goal of the season. Natalie Adams (Wilkes-Barre, Holy Redeemer) setup the goal on a cross from the right side to Lieberman. From there Liberman had a one-touch shot to find the left corner of the net.

Bloomsburg goalie Frances Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ, Haddonfield) stopped two shots, while her counterpart Brittain Wagner made 13 saves on the day.

The Huskies will head to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 1 at 2 pm. The location is to be determined.
