Huskies Fall in PSAC Quarterfinals, 3-1

BOX SCORE

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team (10-8-1, 7-6-1 PSAC) fell 3-1 to no. 4 nationally ranked California Pa. (16-0-2, 12-0-2 PSAC) in the quarterfinals of the PSAC playoffs.  Bloomsburg gave up three first half goals, allowing the tournament's no. 1 seed to advance to the semifinals.

California's Carley Work scored the game's opening goal in the fourth minute of play.  Just over 10 minutes later the Vulcans made it 2-0, scoring after a corner kick opportunity.

In the 31st minute California scored their final goal to make it 3-0 entering the half.  The Huskies were limited to just one shot in the half to Cal's 10.

The second half would be much of the same as the Vulcans out-shot the Huskies 15-1.  However, Bloomsburg made good on their lone shot of the half as Jamie Vaniver (Holland/Council Rock South) tallied her third goal of the season in the 81st minute.  Senior Natalie Adams (Wilkes-Barre/Holy Redeemer) was credited with the assist.

Bloomsburg goalie Frances Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) made seven saves in 90 minutes of action while her counterpart Paula Jackson made one.  With the win California advances to the PSAC semifinals.
