Women's Swim Team Sweeps Tri-Meet

MANSFIELD—The Bloomsburg University women's swim team swept a tri-match at Mansfield University on Saturday. The Huskies beat Edinboro 144-118, Kutztown 179-83 and Mansfield by a score of 221-35.
 
The wins were the third, fourth and fifth ones for the Huskies with the win over Kutztown the first time in four years the Huskies have beaten the Golden Bears.
 
In the match the Huskies set three Decker Pool records during the meet. In the 1000-free Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) posted a mark of 10:51.44, while in the 50-free Nicole Martin (Ephrata/Ephrata) had a pool record time of 24.88 seconds, while in the 500-free Bridget Hillferty set the new mark with a time of 5:18.47.
 
To this point in the season the Huskies have qualified seven swimmers for the PSAC Championships. They are Nicole Martin (Ephrata/Ephrata), Miranda Steel (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough), Bridget Hilferty (Royersford/Perkiomen Valley), Julia DeVincent, Sarah Grawe (Stafford, VA/North Stafford), Brittany McNeil (Oxford/Oxford Area) and Madeline Barlow (Yardley/Pennsbury).
 
Bloomsburg will host Clarion on Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Nelson Field House pool.
