Women's 4 x 400 Relay Team Sets School Mark

BETHLEHEM— The Bloomsburg University women's indoor track team completed the first half of its season at the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals meet.

The Huskies took first in the 4 x 400 relay event in 4:08.95, setting a new school record in the process. Leading off the relay was Amber Stephan (Gettysburg/Gettysburg), who split 63.4 and was right with the lead runners.  Rebecca Canderan (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) followed with a solid split of 62.7.  She handed off to Kaila Hassler (Schnecksville/Parkland), whose split of 62.3 had the Huskies ready to pounce.  Alexis Rankin (Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham)'s closing split of 61.2 out paced the field and brought home the win and a new school record for the team.  The mark broke the record set last year.

In addition, four other individuals qualified for the PSAC championships at the meet.  In the long jump Kaila Hassler (Schnecksville/Parkland) 5.08m (16'8") and Vanessa Rimbey (Lehighton/Lehighton Area) 5.02m (16'5.5") qualified, while in the shot put Spring Gamble (Philadelphia/Girls High School) had a toss of 12.01m (39'5") which also broke the school record. Finally, I'sha Schultz (East Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) qualified in the 200 with a time of 26.87, which also broke the school record.
