LEWISBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's indoor track and field team had 11 members of the team qualify for the PSAC championships and had one school record fall at the Bison Open held at Bucknell University on Saturday.
Setting a school record in the 400 dash and qualifying for the PSAC championships was
Alexis Rankin (Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham) (Hatboro-Horsham HS) with a time of 60.17 seconds, while
Rebecca Canderan (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) also qualified for PSAC's with a time of 61.75 seconds. Rankin also qualified for the PSAC's in the 200 dash in a time of 27.00.
In the 60 dash
Valerie Homer (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) and I'Sha Shultz both qualified for PSAC's. Homer ran 7.98 seconds with Schultz coming in at 8.02.
In the 60 hurdles,
Vanessa Rimbey (Lehighton/Lehighton Area) and
Amber Stephan (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) qualified for the PSAC's with marks of 9.62 and 9.79 respectively.
At 5,000 meters the Huskies had five qualifiers for the PSAC championships.
Vicki Davis (New Ringgold/Schuylkill Haven) in 17:46.43,
Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) in 18:19.16,
Katie Filemyr (Willow Grove/Bishop McDevitt) in 18:27.29,
Kelsey Harm (Boothwyn/Cardinal O'Hara) in 18:51.61 and
Courtney Werner (Hudson, OH/Hudson) in 19:05.29.
“This was a great early season meet for us (Bloomsburg),” said Huskies head coach
Bernie Empie. “I am very excited for the progress our team has made and the improvements across the event groups.
