Bloomsburg Falls in PSAC Men's Tennis Final

BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team lost to Kutztown, 5-1, in the finals of the 2011 PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Championships on Friday.

The Huskies, playing without their number two player Mark Schroeder (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) who was out with an injury, fell behind 2-1 after doubles. Bloomsburg's lone win came at number three with the team of Lee Wexler (Lafayette Hill/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and Jeff Nuhfer (Warren/Warren Area) winning 9-7. The Huskies did drop a close one at number two where the team of Tyler Pultro (New Britain/Central Bucks West) and Alan Hummel (Manhiem/Hempfield) lost 9-8.

In singles play, Kutztown posted wins at number one, three and five to win the title. The Huskies were ahead in two of the matches that went unfinished. Bloomsburg's Nuhfer was ahead in the third set of his match at number two, while Evan Carney (West Winfield, NY/Mt. Markham) was leading 4-3 and up a set at number six when play was stopped.

The Huskies fall to 10-6 with the loss and will now await word on a berth in the NCAA Championships.
