LEWISBURG—Bloomsburg University women's track standout
Katie Meck (Dillsburg/Northern) set a new school record in the 1500 to highlight action for the Huskies at the Bucknell Team Challenge event on Saturday.
Meck ran a 4:37.61 to finish third in the event and also break the school record set back in 1994 by Aimee Gerlinkski, who ran a 4:41.62.
Improving on their previous PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) qualifying marks were
Vanessa Rimbey (Lehighton/Lehighton Area) in the 100 hurdles in 15.83 and
Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) in the 1500 who ran a 5:00.19.
Kaila Hassler (Schnecksville/Parkland) bettered her mark in the 400 finishing in 60.52 seconds, while
Vicki Davis (New Ringgold/Schuylkill Haven) in the 3000 Steeplechase posted a mark of 11:34.
Posting new PSAC qualifying marks were
Jessica Segeleon (Bridgeville/South Fayette) in the 800 in 2:23.46, while
Jacquie Glaser (Easton/Easton) in the pole vault had a jump of 3.10 meters (10'2”).
Several other Huskies also posted personal bests during the day's action. In the 1500
Bridget Krecko (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) ran a 5:25.08, while at 800 meters
Ashley Bauer (Temple/Muhlenberg) ran a 2:26.18 with
Erin Hanosek (Macungie/Emmaus) finishing in 2:26.71. In the 400 hurdles
Michelle Christmann (Oradell, NJ/River Dell) had a time of 1:08.55 just missing PSAC's by .10 seconds.
Bloomsburg also had its throwers competing at the ESU All-American meet with
Emily Backel (Dillsburg/Northern York County) setting PR's in the hammer in 33.40 meters (109'6”) and the javelin with a toss of 31.04 meters (101'10”).
The Huskies return to action next week hosting the Maroon and Gold Open.
