LEWISBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's track and field team competed on Saturday at the Winter Classic at Bucknell University. The Huskies also sent their Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team to the Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
At Boston, the women's DMR ran 12:13.08, a national provisional qualifying time and a performance that ranks 11th nationally. The time also broke the school record of 12:18. 23 set back in 2008. In the race
Vicki Davis (New Ringgold/Schuylkill Haven) led off the relay with a 1200 meter split of 3:43.
Alexis Rankin (Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham) followed on the 400 leg splitting 59.0, while
Katie Filemyr (Willow Grove/Bishop McDevitt) ran 2:22 on the 800 leg, and
Lauren Lehman (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs) finished off the relay running 5:06 on the 1600 leg.
At Bucknell winning the one-mile race was
Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) in a time of 5:07.64, while in the 60-meter hurdles
Valerie Homer (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) was third in a time of 8.04 seconds.
At 400 meters Jessica Segelon finished third in a PSAC-qualifying time of 1:01.96, while at 500 meters
Rebecca Canderan (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) was fourth in 1:19.49, while
Amber Stephan (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) was fifth in 1:21.23. In the 1000 meter race
Lauren Bond (Hatfield/North Penn) was fourth in 3:08.33. At 3000 meters
Samantha Matthews (Windsor/Glenelg) also qualified for the PSAC championships running a time of 10:51.91.
In the pole vault
Kelsey Davis (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) was fifth in 3.20 meters (10'6”).
The Huskies compete in the SU Open next Friday.
