Women's Indoor Track Finishes Ninth at NCAA Team Challenge

Full Results

GENEVA, OH—The Bloomsburg University women's indoor track team place ninth out of 21 schools in the NCAA Division II Team Challenge at the Spire Institute.  Three different school records were broke during the event.

Alexis Rankin (Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham) broke the school record for the 200 and 400 meter dash.  In the 200, Rankin posted a 26.50 time which was good enough for 14th place at the meet and broke the old Bloomsburg record of 26.96 set in 2010.  Her 400 meter time of 59.00 placed her fifth at the meet and broke Connie Raneri's school record of 1:00.58 which was set in 2005.

Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) finished second overall in the 5000 meter run with a school record time of 17:38.82.  The mark broke the record of 17:40.39 that had been set by former All-American Michelle Wolyniec back in 1998.

In the 400 meter Rebecca Canderan (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) ran a 1:00.40 which would have also beaten BU's school record had Rankin not done it.  Canderan's time was 14th best on the day.

With a time of 4:04.84, the 4x400 team of Rankin, Canderan, Amber Stephan (Gettysburg/Gettysburg), and Jessica Segeleon (Bridgeville/South Fayette) broke Bloomsburg's previous record which was set at Lehigh earlier this season.

In the one mile run, Lauren Lehman (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs) finished fourth, running at 5:05.97.   She missed beating the school record by just two seconds.

Along with Lehman's PSAC qualifying time, Lauren Bond (Hatfield/North Penn) and Kelsey Harm (Boothwyn/Cardinal O'Hara) both hit the PSAC mark with times of 5:21.03 and 5:23.77 respectively.

Vicki Davis (New Ringgold/Schuylkill Haven), Katie Filemyr (Willow Grove/Bishop McDevitt), and Courtney Werner (Hudson, OH/Hudson) all had PSAC marks in the 3000 meter run.  Davis finished second with a time of 10:17.75 while Filemyr claimed sixth with a 10:26.42 time.  Werner came in 16th at 10:46.61.

The Bloomsburg University women's indoor track team will be back in action next Saturday, February 11th as they travel to compete at Bucknell.
