EDINBORO, PA—The Bloomsburg University men's tennis team (8-2, 1-0 PSAC) made quick work of the Fighting Scots of Edinboro University this afternoon as the Huskies claimed an 8-1 victory in BU's PSAC opener. Bloomsburg took all six singles matches and won at second and third doubles en route to their seventh straight win of the season.
Bloomsburg's
Jeff Nuhfer (Warren/Warren Area) and
Lee Wexler (Lafayette Hill/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) tallied an 8-2 win at second doubles while
Tyler Pultro (New Britain/Central Bucks West) and
Mike DiSanto (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh) blanked their opponents at the third position. The two wins gave Bloomsburg a 2-1 advantage entering singles action.
The Huskies dominated in singles play as they won all six matches. Five of the six matches were finished in straight sets with the exception of
Jeff Nuhfer (Warren/Warren Area)'s match at second singles. Nuhfer breezed through the first set claiming a 6-0 win but dropped the second set at 2-6. With the match already decided a super tie breaker was played for the third and Nuhfer would come out victorious as he won the super-breaker 11-9.
Bloomsburg will have little time to rest as they take on Mercyhurst tomorrow in a 2:00 p.m. match in Mercyhurst, PA.
