BLOOMSBURG—With an impressive 5-0 win over Edinboro, the Bloomsburg University men's tennis team advanced to the PSAC Championship match. The Huskies swept the doubles matches and got wins at second and fourth singles to pull out the victory. With the win, Bloomsburg will be searching for their first PSAC Championship since 2008.
Bloomsburg's doubles teams were dominant today as they won 24 of 26 games played.
Ricky Dove (Port Matilda/State College Area) and
Mark Schroeder (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) tallied an 8-2 win at the first position.
Lee Wexler (Lafayette Hill/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) and
Jeff Nuhfer (Warren/Warren Area) teamed up for an 8-0 win at second doubles which was coupled with another 8-0 win at third doubles by
Tyler Pultro (New Britain/Central Bucks West) and
Mike DiSanto (Center Valley/Southern Lehigh). With the sweep of the doubles, Bloomsburg took a commanding 3-0 lead into singles competition.
Nuhfer made it 4-0 as he ran through his opponent at the four spot, dropping just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win. Fellow senior Schroeder clinched the Bloomsburg victory with a 6-1, 6-2 win at second singles.
With the wins Bloomsburg advances to tonight's PSAC Championship match against Kutztown. Match-time is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. in Bloomsburg PA.
