PUEBLO, CO--Bloomsburg University women's track standout
Katie Filemyr (Willow Grove/Bishop McDevitt) competed on Thursday at the NCAA Division II national championships in the 3000 meter steeplechase preliminaries.
Filemyr, competing in her first national championship, finished in 12:13.49, but did not advance to the finals. All runners in the event were hampered by running at an elevation of 4,662 feet above sea level.
Filemyr had qualified for the NCAA championships by running an NCAA provisional time of 10:49.69 which broke the Bloomsburg school record by more than 18 seconds, a record she previously owned. It was also the second best mark in the PSAC this year.
