BLOOMSBURG—A school-record for
Alexis Rankin (Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham) highlighted day two action for Bloomsburg University at the 2012 PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Track and Field Championships hosted by the Huskies.
Rankin, running the 400-meter dash, posted the fourth-fastest qualifying mark of the day in setting the school record with a mark of 57.48 seconds. The time broke the old mark of 57.68 set by Mary Anne Fidishin in 1986 and qualified Rankin for Saturday's finals.
Also advancing to the finals on Saturday was
Valerie Homer (East Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg South) in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.36, seventh-best time of the day.
At 5000-meters two Huskies earned points for the team.
Kaitlyn McShay (Springfield/Cardinal O'Hara) was fourth in 18:06.54, while
Samantha Matthews (Windsor/Glenelg) was seventh in 18:30.67.
In the field events,
Vanessa Rimbey (Lehighton/Lehighton Area) was seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.41 meters (17'9”).
Competing, but not advancing, were
Tayler Harkins (Lansdale/North Penn) in the shot put;
Haley Kramer (Eagleville/Methacton) and
Vanessa Rimbey (Lehighton/Lehighton Area) in the 100-hurdles; and
Rebecca Canderan (Ocean View, NJ/Ocean City) in the 400-meter dash. Also, in the 800-meter run,
Lauren Lehman (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs),
Lauren Bond (Hatfield/North Penn),
Ashley Bauer (Temple/Muhlenberg) and
Jessica Segeleon (Bridgeville/South Fayette); while in the 400-hurdles
Michelle Merian (Mountain Lakes /Mountain Lakes) and
Michelle Christmann (Oradell, NJ/River Dell) both competed. At 200-meters Rankin did not move on, while also running in the 5000-meter race was
Courtney Werner (Hudson, OH/Hudson).
