The Golden Knights are ranked ninth in the national poll and first in the Atlantic Region.
Bloomsburg came out aggressive and pressured the opposing defenders early and forced a costly mistake in the opening minutes. Freshman
Miguel Diaz (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) caught Gannon's defense napping and intercepted a routine pass in the sixth minute. After controlling his dribble, Diaz made the most of his opportunity and fired a shot into the bottom right corner of the goal to give Bloomsburg the early lead. It was Diaz's first goal of his career.
The Huskies made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute when
Fran Miller (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) directed a pass over to
Spencer Conrad (Enola/East Pennsboro) and Conrad drilled a shot from straight on that deflected off a defender into the goal. The shot was one of 14 in the first half for the Huskies compared with five for Gannon.
The Golden Knights began their comeback in the 59
th minute when Adam Sharbaugh scored off an assist from Sean Pike. Sharbaugh's shot went off the left post and in.
Gannon tied the score in the 75
th minute with a goal by Tyler Hollingsworth off a rebound; then got the go-ahead score in the 83
rd minute when Shane Hallett crossed the ball to Robbie Bennett who headed the ball into the right side of the goal.
Bloomsburg had a good scoring chance with less than three minutes to play.
Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg/Gettysburg) just missed wide right on a shot that would have tied the score.
Gannon added a late goal to make the final 4-2.
Overall, the teams were equal in shots on goal with 20 each and tied in corner kicks with six.
